Dr. Halil Dag
Dear patients,
As a senior physician of our HAMBURG HERNIA CENTRUM, I am pleased to welcome you to our locations in Eppendorf, at the Fleetklinik, in Barmbek and in Bergedorf.
As a reference center for hernia surgery, (the highest level of certification awarded by the German Society for General and Visceral Surgery), we treat all types of abdominal wall hernias according to current specialty-specific guidelines. Abdominal wall hernias include inguinal, femoral, umbilical, incisional, stomal, and hiatal hernias.
Before any possible treatment comes the consultation: we take the time to find out how long a hernia has existed, what complaints it causes and whether there is a hernia at all. The subsequent examination as well as ultrasound diagnostics enable a reliable diagnosis to be made for many hernias. Diastases recti after pregnancy and sports hernias can also be diagnosed on the basis of ultrasound examinations and a treatment plan can be drawn up.
In the case of large incisional hernias and hiatal hernias, we need special preliminary examinations, which we arrange together with you.
Many of the operations, e.g. for inguinal and hiatal hernias, can nowadays be performed minimally invasive to microinvasive with the finest 2 mm diameter instruments and thus almost without scarring (so-called MILS technique). For larger abdominal wall and incisional hernias, the MILOS procedure with small skin incisions is used.
In the case of large incisional hernias after previous operations, a complex combined procedure is often required: Before the operation, the lateral abdominal wall is infiltrated with Botox in order to allow stretching of the muscles “softened” by this during the operation. The so-called Intraoperative Fascia Traction (IFT), which Prof. Niebuhr and I have performed most frequently worldwide to date, enables the safe closure of the very large hernia openings in the deep abdominal wall layer, often without further dissection of the oblique abdominal muscles.
I am looking forward to your appointment.
Your
Dr. med. Halil Dag
